BODMIN JAIL HOTEL & DARK WALK VISITOR ATTRACTION CENTRE – MAIN CONTRACTING
Bodmin Jail is a Grade II listed building and one of Cornwall’s top tourist attractions which was originally built in 1779 and is steeped in both social and architectural history.
The jail was decommissioned as a working prison in 1929 when it was left to fall into ruin and decay. In the 60’s it was transformed in small part to a club venue and then into a museum offering a unique insight into Cornish penal life over the centuries.
PIN BLD are appointed as the main contractor alongside Turner & Townsend, ARUPS and 12 Architects to transform the entire site into a state of the art attraction to include a new build Dark Walk visitor centre and the restoration and refurbishment of the 18th Century Jail into a 4 star 70 bedroom boutique hotel including all ancillary and associated F&B and attraction/museum facilities.
This appointment signals a significant milestone for PIN CM being it is their 65th Grade I or II listed project in our founders and team’s careers to date.
Project duration 100 weeks.
